Our Family has a long history in Australian Agriculture
Keith is a 4th generation sheep and cropping farmer. He has developed new land and farmed more established properties. Keith is focussed on sustainable productivity in a range of seasons. He is constantly pursuing methods and technology to effectively manage costs. Keith also operates a consultancy business specialising in establishing farming systems and livestock production businesses in emerging markets.
Sara is from a family owned beef, lamb and cropping property in the northern wheatbelt of WA. She completed a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, working in Perth and the UK for an international firm. This experience was used when researching, developing and comparingproduction models to determine the key profit drivers for livestock business. Sara has a very hands on involvement with Stud livestock handling and genetics decisons.
Keith and Sara jointly manage the breeding objective of Jilakin Downs Dorpers
The change from a Merino to a Dorper enterprise was not made lightly and involved 5 years of trialling different breeds on farm. The White Dorpers were introduced in 2003. Jilakin Downs White Dorper Stud was registered in 2004 and Jilakin Downs Dorper Stud followed in 2006.
Keith and Sara have three children who are all adept at sheep work. The family are also involved in a range of community and local sporting roups.
